Be still in my presence

Otto and Elle Kitties

Today the sun is shining and we have been so busy!  Jason had arthroscopic knee repair yesterday and I have enjoyed taking care of him even if he is a little cranky.  I feel best when I am needed and am able to give to others. We had to get Elle a passport this morning for our upcoming trip to London, and our visit to see Jason’s sister Chelsea, then had a play date at Open Gym, a play date directly following at a friend from small group and now back home for a few before heading to Lawrence for my sister in laws birthday party at Wheatfield’s restaurant.  I knew today would be busy and yes, that is me keeping the wolves at bay, but its also me making sure my daughter has a full life filled with friends and good memories.  This is what momma’s who aren’t overwhelmed normally do, so there isn’t anything wrong with us doing these things.  I had a few moments while the baby plays and Elle relaxes to do something on my to-do list and I got out my devotional to spend some time with my Jesus.  This is what he tells me today “be still in my presence even though countless tasks clamor for your attention.” Oh my dear Lord…how you know me so well constantly amazes me.  And, he does!  He knows that I always have so many things vying for my attention and he needs to be higher.  Now I am thinking…i still have to wash the sheets for the house guests coming later tonight, put the pastry out, write the “thank you for helping me at the hospital/happy birthday” card to amazing Kati-did (that one might take a minute) and thank goodness I already got the girls bathed this morning!
